Classic Chocolate Brownies
I love trying new recipes, but sometimes you just need a few tried and true recipes to go to. I’ve been making these brownies for years. They are super simple, and can be made in one bowl/pan. They are great to throw together for dinner guests or a school treat. These can also be dressed up with icing, caramel, or ice cream.
Ingredients
¾ cup (170 grams) unsalted butter
4-ounces of chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (dark or semi-sweet)
1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup (125 grams) all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2-3/4 cup mini or regular chocolate chips (optional)
Flaked sea salt (optional, but delicious)
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grab a 2 quart or similarly sized sauce pan. Place butter (170 grams) and chocolate chips (4 ounces) in the pan. Melt butter and chocolate chips over medium low heat until all the way melted, stirring regularly. Remove from heat.
Step 2
Stir in sugar (200 grams), combine well. Add eggs (2) and vanilla (1 tsp), combine well. Add baking powder (1/4 tsp) and salt (1/4 tsp), stir well. Add flour (125 grams) and stir. Add chocolate chips (1/2-3/4 cup), if using and stir.
Step 3
Line a 9 x 9 pan with parchment paper or spray well with cooking spray or both. Pour brownie batter into pan. Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes. Add 1/2 tsp of flaked sea salt to the top of brownies after 15 minutes in the oven, if using. Check at 25 minutes. I tend to like my brownies more goey, some like them more done.
Step 4
Enjoy!
